TALK: "A guided tour of the arsenal of Computational Science for Biologists", P. Koumoutsakos, 20/1/09, 16.00, Paul Scherrer Institut, OSGA/EG 6

January 20, 2009, 16.00, PSI, room OSGA/EG 6

We present multiscale  imaging, modeling and simulation tools developed and implemented though collaborative projects of our group with biology and life science researchers.

We emphasize the possibility of adapting computational advances originally developed for fields such as fluid dynamics, chemistry and urban planning for the solution of biological problems ranging from virus traffic to tumor induced angiogenesis. In turn we identify distinct biological challenges and the advances they have promoted in the development of novel computational methods.
